HostGenius Inc. ("HostGenius," "we," or "us") operates hostgenius.com, a website about our community for independent vacation rental operators. This policy explains how we handle personal information collected through this website, membership inquiries, and call bookings. Separate notices or agreements may apply to our member platform and services.
Information we collect
When you contact us, apply, or book a call, we collect the information you provide, such as your name, work email, phone number, company, website, number of listings, booking preferences, and the contents of your message. Please don't submit guest records, payment-card details, passwords, or other sensitive information through a website inquiry.
Our website hosting and security providers process technical information needed to deliver and protect the site, such as IP addresses, browser and device information, requested pages, timestamps, and error records. If you allow optional analytics, our analytics providers also collect information about page visits and interactions, including the page or campaign that brought you here and cookie or device identifiers where their tools use them.
How we use information
We use this information to respond to inquiries, assess membership fit, arrange calls, provide requested resources, maintain our contact records, operate and protect the website, and meet legal obligations. Where permitted and consistent with your choices, we may send information about HostGenius. Optional analytics help us understand which content visitors use and improve the site.
Booking a call does not itself enroll you in an SMS marketing program. Any optional marketing consent is requested separately where required.
Service providers and other disclosures
We use providers that help us operate the website and communicate with you. These include Vercel for hosting and website analytics, HubSpot for booking and contact management, and Google Analytics and Microsoft Clarity for optional website measurement when enabled. These providers process information in connection with the services they provide. A booking through HubSpot sends the information you enter to our HubSpot account.
We may disclose information when reasonably necessary to comply with law, respond to valid legal requests, protect rights and security, or complete a merger or transfer of our business, subject to applicable law. We do not sell personal information. We do not share mobile numbers or SMS opt-in consent with third parties or affiliates for their own marketing; providers supporting message delivery may process them on our behalf.
Cookies, analytics, and external services
Necessary technologies support site operation, security, and remembering your privacy choices. Optional analytics are disabled until you choose to allow them. You can revisit in the footer to change that choice. Withdrawing consent stops future optional tracking, but does not automatically remove information previously collected.
The booking page loads HubSpot's scheduler, which connects your browser to HubSpot; HubSpot receives technical information and may use cookies needed for its service. You can also open the scheduler directly on HubSpot's site. External links, including Trustpilot and LinkedIn, take you to services with their own privacy policies.
This version of our website does not use advertising pixels or cross-site remarketing. We do not use the older browser Do Not Track signal to control necessary website functions. Optional analytics remain controlled by your cookie choice. Global Privacy Control is treated as an opt-out of optional advertising or sale/sharing uses if such uses are introduced; it does not prevent processing needed to answer an inquiry you submit.
Retention and security
We keep information for as long as reasonably needed for the purpose it was collected, including responding to you, maintaining a business relationship, complying with legal requirements, resolving disputes, and protecting our systems. Retention depends on the type of information and the circumstances. You can contact us to ask about information we hold or request deletion.
We use reasonable safeguards appropriate to the information and its use. No website, transmission method, or storage system can be guaranteed completely secure.
Your choices and requests
You can ask us to access, correct, or delete your information, and to stop sending marketing communications, by emailing info@hostgenius.ca. You can also use the unsubscribe link in a marketing email. We may need to verify your identity, and some information may need to be retained for legal or other permitted reasons.
Depending on where you live and which laws apply, you may have additional rights, including portability, restricting or objecting to processing, withdrawing consent, appealing a decision on a privacy request, or complaining to your privacy regulator. Send questions, requests, or appeals to the contact below. We will respond as required by applicable law and will not penalize you for exercising applicable privacy rights.
International visitors and children
HostGenius and its providers may process information in the United States, Canada, and other countries where providers operate. Privacy laws may differ from those where you live. Where legally required, transfers are subject to appropriate safeguards. Contact us for information about safeguards applicable to your information.
This website is intended for adult business operators, not children under 18. If you believe a child has provided personal information, please contact us so we can address it.
